A dramatist-cum-poet once observed, "All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players. They have their exits and their entrances, and one man in his time plays many parts." Chris Earnshaw, Tarot master and neuroscientist, cellist and pharmaceutical executive, has played more parts than most men. Earnshaw is, however, probably best known to patrons of Good Day Books as the author of Sho: Japanese Calligraphy (Tuttle, 1985), an instructional manual for aspiring calligraphers that also introduces its readers to the history and philosophy of Japanese calligraphy. Earnshaw, who studied Japanese and Chinese at London University's School of Oriental and African Studies and later earned a Ph.D. in neurosciences, has lived in Japan for more than 25 years and now works in the pharmaceutical industry. He appears to be the first person to have discovered the Biblical origins of Tarot cards, which first made their appearance in Europe at the beginning of the fifteenth century. A signed copy of The Tarot of the Revelation bought from our shop will serve to admit you to Christopher Earnshaw's BOOKNOTES presentation. Signed paperback copies of The Tarot of the Revelation may be purchased at Good Day Books for one thousand five hundred yen („1500) each, tax included, while our supply lasts.
