Past Events
4 November 2007

David Peace explained the genesis of his book, Tokyo Year Zero, from encountering a few lines about the Kodaira Incident in Edward Seidensticker’s Tokyo Rising to reading a chapter about it in Mark Schreiber’s Shocking Crimes of Post War Japan to writing his novel about it.

The event was started a bit late as Mr. Peace and a Good Day Books staff member attended a memorial service for Mr. Seidensticker. Mark Schreiber attended the talk and enthusiastically contributed to the discussion.

David Peace and Mark Schreiber are pictured below, holding each other’s books.

Ode Magazine from San Francisco selected Good Day Books as one of ten leading independent bookstores in the world along with City Lights in San Fransisco and Shakepeare & Co. in Paris in their November issue.
